The Wolf Pack added one player and lost two for the start of the playoffs Thursday.

Defenseman Ivan Baranka, the Rangers' second-round pick in 2003, signed an amateur tryout contract after Everett was eliminated from the Western Hockey League playoffs. Baranka, 6 feet 2, 185 pounds, had seven goals and 16 assists in 64 games this season.

The Pack will be without defenseman Martin Grenier and forward Trevor Gillies when they begin a best-of-seven Atlantic Division semifinal series against Lowell at the Civic Center. Grenier was suspended two games and Gillies eight for their part in a melee in the first period of the Pack's 4-1 victory over Springfield.

Grenier, Gillies and wing Steve MacIntyre, who drew a one-game suspension, sat out Sunday's regular season finale, a 3-1 loss to Springfield. Grenier will miss Game 1 against Lowell. Gillies will miss the entire series and possibly part of the second round if the Pack advance.

Captain Ken Gernander and forwards Jamie Lundmark and Jozef Balej are expected back from undisclosed injuries for Game 1. Wing/defenseman Craig Weller (concussion) is questionable.
